Julie Elaine Brown is a serial entrepreneur and a veteran of the interactive industry, with 18 years experience as a digital marketer and strategist.
She founded Kusadama Enterprises to bring a data-driven approach to digital strategies. As president of Kusadama, she leads a team of curated digital experts chosen for the unique requirements of each client.
She is the former C.E.O. of a Series A-1 funded health & wellness ecommerce platform (funded at 4.17 million), whose assets were sold in 2010. Prior to the startup she was an in-house digital strategy consultant for Johnson & Johnson, where her primary initiative was building Strength for Caring, a marketplace and community for elder caregivers (now a part of AARP). Her work won several Freddy Awards. She has helped build the strategic digital foundation, and online marketing/customer experience plans for startups and Fortune 500 companies alike, including StubHub (sold to eBay), HP, Apple, Microsoft CIO, Visa USA, CNNsi, Sega, Pet Dialog (A Zoetis/Pfizer brand), NRG Energy, Reliant Consumer, Years of Living Dangerously, and more.
She is an active advisor for several startups and working on an ecommerce platform for remote working (stay tuned!). She is also an Associate Producer of “The University Film” which follows students from Singularity University–created by renowned futurist Ray Kurzweil and entrepreneur Peter Diamandis, with support from NASA, Google, and others to teach exponential technology.
She holds an M.A. in Journalism from Northeastern University, and a B.A. in English from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. Originally from Massachusetts, she’s lived in Paris, London, NYC, and Los Angeles, and currently resides in San Francisco.
